Decomputing the cooking process.
Food fossils was an eating experienced based around an alternative approach to food. It asks the question, 'What if we looked at our food like they were fossils?'. A foodstuff, was fossilised inside a biscuit dough, which was then baked in several bread doughs, each flavoured and coloured differently. The void left by the original foodstuff is filled to create the fossil.
The fossils are excavated whilst diners seated on the floor. Diners are re-imagined as archaeologists and given tools suitable to excavation. They are encouraged to taste, smell and observe each rock strata and to finally to speculate what the fossil was in its previous life.
